EEF Directors

Yvanna Ireland, Board Chair

Yvanna’s engineering and leadership background in the energy industry, combined with her extensive outdoor pursuits, including cross-country skiing, hiking, cycling, camping, and kayaking, has helped her develop a unique perspective. Her strong appreciation of nature drives her to ensure that energy can co-exist with minimal impact to the environment. From her experiences as her children moved through the school system, she recognized the need for more balanced educational materials on the environment and Canada's energy future.

Stephanie Schubert, Board Vice-Chair

As the VP, Engineering at ATCO Gas & Pipelines, Stephanie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in energy transportation and demand patterns to Energy Ecosystem Foundation. Stephanie began her career as an engineer in aviation before joining the natural gas industry and has held senior positions at ATCO supporting engineering, construction, customer support, labour relations and regulatory proceedings. She also previously served as a member of the Board of the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association (CEPA) Foundation. A mother of two boys, Stephanie is passionate about teaching the opportunities and impacts relating to energy use and sustainability.

Anna Kozicky

Anna is a Professional Engineer with 20 years of experience in the energy industry and currently serves as the Director of Business Development for Stantec Power. Leading a team focused on Power Delivery—spanning transmission, distribution, substations, and system studies—Anna ensures that communities receive the reliable electricity they depend on every day.

A career highlight includes managing the engineering design of the 465MW Travers Solar Project, Canada’s largest solar project, with an array spanning over 3,000 football fields.

Outside of work, Anna enjoys cheering on her two sons in competitive hockey and exploring new fitness and wellness activities.

Evan Bahry

Evan Bahry

Evan has spent most of his career involved in advancing Canadian energy infrastructure, both in power and now in pipelines. He believes that from responsible energy development comes supply, choice, innovation, and efficiency; all of which benefit end-use consumers. He is particularly hopeful about the energy transition, where Canada - with its resources and its know-how - is well placed to make great strides in decarbonization. Evan is currently the Executive Director of Energy Connections Canada. He recently served as the Executive Director of the Independent Power Producers' Society of Alberta and also serves on the Board of Women + Power.

Jeff Boyle

As a tech entrepreneur, Jeff works hard to help the Energy Industry with its digital transformation. As a volunteer, he dedicates himself to important community organizations like the Calgary Stampede, the CEPA Foundation Technology Showcase, and the Energy Ecosystem initiative. Jeff has two young boys who will soon enter the education system and he encourages them to always stay curious. He wants to ensure this initiative will encourage our next generation to explore the complicated equation that is the environment, quality of life, and energy.

Laureen Darr

Laureen’s involvement in the Energy Ecosystem initiative reflects her broad range of interests including volunteering with several health related bodies (AHS Public Advisory Council for Calgary region, Health Research Ethics Board of Alberta, Association for the Rehabilitation of the Brain Injured) and outdoor pursuits such as hiking, biking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and exploring Alberta's beautiful foothills and mountains with her horses. Her lifelong appreciation of nature has shaped her engineering experience to emphasize bringing many perspectives together in a collaborative and positive way.

Nadia McCarthy

Nadia has seen a lot of the world growing up in developing countries and having served in the Canadian Armed Forces as a reservist including a 6-month peacekeeping deployment to Bosnia. She has held leadership roles in the Canadian energy industry in Environmental Protection, Pipeline Integrity and Land Operations Services. As a founding member of Energy Ecosystem Foundation, Nadia contributes a deep understanding of the need for a balanced perspective on global energy use and environmental protection. This mother of two teenagers and a Scouts Canada volunteer values the importance of helping youth develop their abilities to think critically, to innovate, and to make meaningful contributions toward a better world.

Energy Ecosystem Foundation would like to acknowledge the sponsorship of the Energy Connections Canada for making possible our initial two educational videos and corresponding teaching materials.
